Punters, betters or just purveyors of the ponies Derby Day is upon us and doesn’t Trigger have a pocketful of post passers to promote productivity of the purse.  Forget about Sydney and concentrate on Royal Flemington. 

Race 1 

Can’t go past the top 2 and it looks like a stand out quinella.  But wait, take 2 exactas instead.  1 to beat 2 for $6 and 2 to beat 1 for $ 4.  Take a trifecta with 1 and 2 for 1 and 2 and toss 10 in for third. 

Race 2 

Our eachway special from last week Irazu (paid better then $5 the place) steps in this one and should get the money, again at good odds.  Fluking hope to 8, 2 and 4. 

Race 3 

This event sees the 3 year old fillies stepping up in distance again and in this Trigger likes one from the Pat Hyland yard in Jolie Brise.  Has grand form and was unlucky last time out.  Number 1 Melito is a real danger Run for Naara heads the place chances along with 2, 5 and 6. 

Race 4 

A 3 year old sprint and the fillies again look the main chances.  Back number 14 Irish Lights to win the danger being 13 Paprika.  3 and 6 to fight out third. 

Race 5 

Is the Mackinnon Stakes with a few having there final run before the Gup on Tuesday.  Trigger’s scouts have been out and reckon that number 11, Rangirandoo would have won the Cox Plate last week.  Should win.  1, 2 and 13 for the minors with the 4 a chance to run into 3rd.   

Race 6 – The Derby 

Before last Saturday many good judges were saying the Shamoline was the best 3 year old in the country.  Then 2 others came out and run the quinella in the Cox Plate.  Trigger’s ratings also say he should win tomorrow and who knows maybe a late entry in the Gup. 

Viking Legend and Monaco Consul both look like they can stay and will be thereabouts while 1, 5, 7 and 10 are chances for third.  These your trifecta for you.  3 – 1, 2, 4 – 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 10

Race 7 just one to consider and that is number 11 Typhoon Tracy. 

Find your own winners in the last 2 as there will be plenty of value and I can’t do all the  work for you. 

Dame Fortune will be lining up to collect in front of you.
