Guinness Premiership

Leicester came unstuck against London Irish when they had a 17 point lead with 15 minutes to go and snatched a draw 24 each from the jaws of victory. Tom Croft described their defence as a ‘big hole’ – Jim Staples and Frank Croxford did not play/ Sarries took Sale 23-10 with 20 year-old Owen Farrell snatching 13 points from the boot/ Bath went down to Quins 13-26 with a Mike Brown killer try in the death – that’s 10 straight wins for the London outfit, not surpassed since their ’96-’97 season/ Gloucester held Exeter 24-19 thanks to tries from Freddie Burns, Akapusi Qera and Olly Morgan/ Wasps were done by Northampton 24-13 with unlikely tries from Saints props Soane Tonga’uika and Brian Mujati.

fool says:

Taking odds on England’s triumph in 2015

Magners and the Top 14 are still on hold

Some shorts:

*Chris Ashton verified fool’s belief in that all was not so untoward in England’s off-field antics, stating he would do it all again, suggesting the players didn’t do anything wrong, ‘I don’t think we ever let Martin Johnston down and I like to think he feels the same.’ – ‘Every time we went out, we showed him respect massively. It was always a case of whatever says goes.’ – ‘Massively’!

*Sgt. Wilko is still jolly-well upset about the practise balls used in the world cup, which were not the match balls – hence his 36% strike rate. ‘My feeling is that it’s just horribly unprofessional and an extremely bitter pill to swallow that, at the biggest tournament of the year, we’re having to deal with this.’ – He was eating the balls? – He also screams underwater and self mutilates his kicking foot.

*Samoan and Gloucester centre Eliota Fuimaono Sapol has been given a three week ban for ‘insulting and provocative’ statements he made on Twitter, where he gave Owen Farrell a bit of a roasting and said, Welsh ref Nigel Owens was a racist, which he probably is being Welsh, as they all hate the English.

*And Delon Armitage has been banned again; this time for 5 weeks following a dangerous tackle – that takes his tally to four bans in 2011-11-09

And my apologies it was all English news this week, but nothing else was worth noting – if you have a quirky story from your neck of the woods then please keep it to yourself… in the meantime…

In the snippets

*It’s hardly worth mentioning the Windies are on top in Delhi, as it’s only Day 2 and I’ll probably not update this as I write on the Tuesday, nevertheless, it is worth noting that India were all out in their first run on 209 and the Windies second bat have a lead of 116 on 21-2.

I tell a lie; the Windies all went for a miserable 180 on Day 3 leaving India just 124 to chase and on 152-2 – point of note; The Sach made his 15,000 Test run off his 33*

*Pakistan won their three Test series against the Srills in Sharjah by winning the first test, the second was abandoned and a rain affected third left the ‘stanis looking for a draw which skipper Misbah helped with 9 off 86 balls and an even more scintillating 7 from 55 from the Shifaq fella saw through the draw.

*Australia at Newlands against the Yarpies on Wednesday and Hussey reckons the hosts will be ‘undercooked’.

It’s early now and… - I’m done

The team that likes roll mops and partying and belts and rum and temptations and feathers and Steve Finn and proverbs and coordinates and pigeons and tiddly winks and Jessie’s! And spin and the Beatles and Buddy Holly and side-show Bob and Ant and Dec and capes and japes and basketball and indoor cricket and psyche and a good rib-dig and loose ends and first balls and a good roasting, and triple tons and whoa-ha-ha’s and cooking and cradles and Yorkshire puddings…and 2010/11 Ashes, and the Gods

Till next week…
