 Quarters

Super 15’s:

Crusaders laid 27 big ones against a scoreless Bulls - a feat not seen by the ‘vaali team since ’99. Nevertheless, both teams deserved it as the Bollocks hurled 17 knock-ons, turned over 8 give-aways and generally ponced about on the park to let the Big C’s offload at will and run off set pieces to either score at will or at least break the gain line on every move. SBW scored off one such set piece and tallied his offloads to 24 with only DC being marginally close in the whole comp on 13. Israel Dagg and Tom Marshall nabbed the other tries/ Adam Thompson mopped up two tries of his own and by fool’s reckoning cleared his way to the top of the fantasy table – Highlanders beat Cheetahs 24-21/ Tahs gave the Force a hiding 31-3, which in part ebbed credit towards the Sydney-siders as well flowing the crap out of the Force/ Stormers lost their first game 6-19 to a McKenzie Red machine, which he told us would make a steady surge/ Sharks beat Lions 27-3/ Brumbies finally got a win in the form of 16 to 17 against the hapless ‘Canes

Heineken Cup

The quarter’s saw Leinster beat Leicester with an almost air of comfort ability in the Aviva Stadium. Leicester made a spirited comeback but Irish resolve saw Sexton slot 4 penalties and a cracking try from Ica Nacewa/ Northampton beat Ulster in a spirited opening 10 minutes and late second half rout which Hartley said should have been in the bag had it not been for an Irish stand that made the game, ‘compelling’. Prop Soane Tonga’uala went over early for the Saints and Andrew Trimble scoring for the Irish. Lee Dickson finished off a smart move aided by Foden, Ashton and Jon Clarke to seal the Saints win/ Saints will now meet Perpignan who beat Toulon 29-25 – don’t let the scoreline kid you the Perps took this game to task and beat Sgt. Wilko et George Smith etc with a formidable performance in front of 55,000 mad Barcelona-based fuelled fans/ In the other quarter Toulouse pipped Biarritz 27-20 in San Sebastian. This game was 17-0 up to the T’s at the sheds with 17-a-pice full time. Congolese flanker Yannick Nyanga scored the winner.

Aviva Premiership;

Quins beat Wasps 32-22 and earned themselves a spot in the Challenge Cup. Danny Care and Maurice Fa’asavuala scored in the first 6 minutes with Seb Jewell getting one back. Nick Evans then stuck the boot in and Richard Haughton mopped up a final try/ Sale beat Gloucester 36-31 – Hodgson hit 21 points and 1000 for Sale overall..

Magners:    - why am I still on this page?

Dunno

Top 14: Hands are still up; I don’t know.

fool says: Did the Rebels play last week? – Either way they’ll win

Some shorts:

*Mark Cueto’s 18 week ban for eye gouging has been reduced by half leaving him available the World Cup warm up games. The judge at the hearing stated, ‘compelling mitigation’ led him to reduce sentence.

*Meanwhile Foden also got off lightly as his presence in front of the beak for the shrouded circumstances of damage to a taxi was waved as a minor misdemeanour whereby the taxi driver was no doubt trying to cash in on notoriety – no doubt from the Pakistani cab driver who’s kidnapped Trescothick and lately that Yardy fella, but that’s another story. Foden was told to give some cash to a rugby-related charity.

Tapas & Bodega: bodega, oh baby when you dance like that… Sangria, mojito’s, plenty, plenty, plenty of wine and beer; Plus, The best Spanish cuisine in Saigon this side of Spain - Which is just to the right of Vietnam, and perhaps a little off centre of Phuket. Cracking live music too.

A willow the wisp of cricket now:

And now ladies and gentlemen a thribble on the light side:

It’s over… it’s over…

Haven’t got time this week – plus lost me notes, which if fool recalls had something about Clarke saying Watson’s 185 off about 7 balls against the Bangles was the best thing he’s ever seen in his life, which is just a sensationalism straight out of a Neighbours set, where the sun always shines and it never rains but its true. There are – there’s the cricket.

It’s early now and… - I’m done

The team that likes roll mops and partying and belts and rum and temptations and feathers and Steve Finn and proverbs and coordinates and pigeons and tiddly winks and Jessie’s! And spin and the Beatles and Buddy Holly and side-show Bob and Ant and Dec and capes and japes and basketball and indoor cricket and psyche and a good rib-dig and loose ends and first balls and a good roasting, and triple tons and whoa-ha-ha’s and cooking and cradles and Yorkshire puddings…and 2010/11 Ashes, and the Gods

Till next week…
