Must keep hold of my notes…

Having been in complete disarray with the weekends shenanigans it’s probably best to leave out the sports write up and just hand out some quotes…

Italy 22-21 France

Nick Mallett, ‘It’s a huge, huge achievement. I’m really proud of my players. They were fantastic, fabulous. Sport is a funny thing, you lose a few in a row and things change really quickly.’

Marc Lievremont, ‘Do I feel responsible for that? No, they betrayed us, they have betrayed me and they have betrayed the French national team shirt. I was ashamed. They are good guys, but cursed with what is obviously cowardice.’

Wales 19-13 Ireland

Now it’s when I realise I’ve ran out of quotes, except Irish flanker Sean O’Brien did muse towards their final game, ‘It’s a huge game in front of our supporters, it’s our last competitive game before the world cup and its England.’

England 22-16 Scotland

No one said anything – its official.

A willow the wisp of cricket now:

And now ladies and gentlemen a thribble on the light side:

Nerdy Stat alert…

If you thought the rugby was brief…

India became the first to qualify for the quarters with an easy victory over the Dutch by targeting their 190 with a patient 51 from Yuvraj Singh. 22 off 27 balls helped The Sach to become the first to 2000 runs in the World Cup.

Dishlan knocked 100 and took 4 wickets as the Srills popped the Zims by 139 runs. They also head into the quarters.

Australia made it too with 324/6 over Kenya in Bangalore. Although African Collins Obuya scored 98*

New Zealand beat Canada by 97 runs and to confirm further disarray on the sports round up from last weekend the Bangles beat England but I cannot tell you by what as I was very, very drunk at the time.

I do know Swann has felt the pressure of being a professional sportsman and not that he’s complaining but if he were to he’d say something to the fact that England have been on the go abroad since 29th October, that’s 135 days (Wednesday), have travelled 44,489 miles, taken 35 flights, been to 17 cities and played 26 matches – Ian Bell has played every game – so it’s obviously his fault.

Asad Shafiq rattled 78 off 97 to get Pakistan into the quarters with a 7 wicket win over the Zims in a reduced game in Kandy.

The Bangles went onto the beat the Dutch by 6 wickets leaving this group, the only entertaining one to watch. If they beat the other Dutch they’re in, as too England if they nail the Windies.

Meanwhile nerdy stat lies with Jonathon Trot who after 23 innings in ODI’s is the world’s highest scorer at this stage on 1,147 runs.

I’m done

The team that likes roll mops and partying and belts and rum and temptations and feathers and Steve Finn and proverbs and coordinates and pigeons and tiddly winks and Jessie’s! And spin and the Beatles and Buddy Holly and side-show Bob and Ant and Dec and capes and japes and basketball and indoor cricket and psyche and a good rib-dig and loose ends and first balls and a good roasting, and triple tons and whoa-ha-ha’s and cooking and cradles and Yorkshire puddings…and 2010/11 Ashes, and the Gods

Till next week…
