As predicted fool has predicted all the correct scores so far, if you don’t believe me check his sweepstake sheets and weep; there, if that doesn’t put the kybosh on it I don’t know what will.
Meanwhile; the Argies made minced meat of Romania 43-8 in a game that was expected to be pack dominant, however, the Pumas ran everything and notched 6 tries.
South Africa demolished the Fijians 49-3 and laid down a gauntlet with precision, power and accuracy.
In the Big Game; Ireland out-flanked the Australians with swarming tactics that suffocated their pack and strangled the half backs and duly won 15-6.
A thriller to the final whistle, this game could have gone either way, but if you had to lay dominance on the table then Paul O’Connell and Stephen Ferris lapped it up.
A late ditch effort by Genia was stalled from a try saving tackle by Sean O’Brien - that may have given the Aussies the confidence that was clearly knocked out of them. It’s no fun seeing a pack destroyed, but such was the men in Green’s fulfilled plan.
Late flurries from Kearney and Earls were counter-acted from Cooper, Beale and Adam Ashley-Cooper to no avail. And a Bowe intercept resulting in a Connor Murray disallowed try in the dying minutes mattered not, for the game was won.
Declan Kidney said with some authority he was, ‘pleased the way we went about our business.’
Wales on the other hand continue to be crowd pleasers if not for a running display in their 17-10 over Manu Samoa, but the sheer nerves they wrecked of their supporters in a poor display, moulded together by grit and a 55th minute try from Shane Williams that continues to set this group alight.
Georgia beefed up admirably against a disjointed England, but it would be unfair to suggest the 41-10 win from the English shouldn’t have been extended by another couple of tries at least, had they played with say the precision of the Boks in their earlier game against Fiji.
France also had a hard time against the brave, brave Canadians, how many times did we hear that on the commentary. Nevertheless, they were brave but not good enough to cope with another coasting team yet to fully warm up. France won 46-19
fool says:
The Big Games this weekend are; New Zealand’s loss to France… but I think that will be too good to be true, so I have the Kiwis up 21-12.
And Argentina will lose to Scotland… you don’t think so?
In other games Italy will beat Russia/ Japan will beat Tonga/ South Africa will scrape by Namibia! / Australia will smash the States/ England will smash Romania/ Samoa will pip Fiji/ and Ireland will run over Russia.
ITM/ Currie Cup/ English Premiership and Magners are on hold till they stop playing every bloody day of the week and we get to somewhere near the finals!
Some shorts:
*no time today, sorry, except to remind you it’s Lichtenstein who has the same national anthem tune as England and not Georgia.

end rugby here!
A willow the wisp of cricket now:

And now ladies and gentlemen a thribble on the light side:

Australia and The Srills look likely to run for a draw as the visitors run on 303/4 in their second innings with the Srills all gone in their first for 473.
Angelo Mathews topped 105* with Siddle snaring 4-91, as did Ranera Herath in the second innings and Phil Hughes top scored on 126.
It doesn’t get more in depth than that and the only excuse I have for just a poor run of form in the cricket ramblings of late is that old father Time is getting faster!
