Guinness Premiership

Leicester tipped Sale 34-13 coming back from the break at 13-3. Toby Flood had no problems with the boot hitting 19 points, with tries from Alesana Tuilaga and Martin Castrogiavani/ Wasps pipped Worcester 14-12 with a try from Richard Birkett on 90 seconds to go/ Quins held Exeter 19-13, and Nick Easter was still smarting from the world cup game against France stating; ‘if we had been able to tackle, catch and pass we would have won it.’/ London Irish were out-pointed by Bath by a point 13-12 thanks to a 78th minute penalty from Sam Vesty – Stephen Donald should take over kicking duties next week when he arrives from his world cup triumph/ And Owen Farrell knocked over three penalties and a touchline conversion and set up Brad Barritt’s try to help Sarries win 19-17 over Gloucester.

fool says:

Taking odds on England’s triumph in 2015

Magners and the Top 14 are still on hold

Some shorts:

*Steve Thompson reflected on England’s bad-boy antics saying how the game has changed its profile and spoke on the irony of blame-shifting; ‘old players who say its ‘disgusting’, but in 2003 used to drink the night before.’

He’s also tipped Tom Wood for captaincy saying he’s level headed, a great lad, only 24 and an awesome player and ‘one of the best trainers I’ve known’ – But how does he handle his grog!

*Leicester’s George Ford won the IRB’s Young Player of the Year, with Frenchie Thierry Dusautoir the full-blooded Player of the Year… and seriously, not to take anything away from the Kiwi’s but how far offside, in the gate, and stayed there for ages was Richie McCaw in the dying minutes of the that game!

*Ospreys have banned fake tans and coloured boots at their club, stating players have to play at least 50+ games to earn that privilege. Still, it won’t affect James Hook, Mike Phillips and Lee Byrne because they’re off to the land of no salary caps.

sadly we have to say goodbye to Sammy, alias Peter de Villiers, as now Eyebrows, alias Graham Henry is the world’s winning coach, but it was a good four years, so in true Dr. Who style….. We welcome Graham, alias Dennis Healy.

Some competitions now: If you’d like to take part in fool’s rugby comps check out the comps & results page –win a prize! – I should probably check it myself, as I can’t remember what comps are up for grabs, although I do know John Smit is no longer running his XV – that mantle now goes to Richie McCaw.

Send your team(s) to cf.crazyfool@gmail.com – argh yes, teams, that was it - teams.

end rugby here!

A willow the wisp of cricket now:

And now ladies and gentlemen a thribble on the light side:

In the snippets

*On reflection of England’s 5-0 whitewash in the ODI’s in India captain Swann said, ‘On current form away from home, we wouldn’t beat the Women’s Institute. And no disrespect to the WI – I’m sure they’ve got a couple of fine leg spinners.’

*And New Zealand head to their one-off Test in Zim with a tally of players faking injury because they can’t be arsed; latest hit list are: Jessie Ryder; Kyle Mills, Hamish Bennett and Tim Southee.

*And Katich, Clarke and Hussey are all buddies again after Katich was binned by the Aussie selectors, which Clarke said he had no say in because at the time he wasn’t on the selection committee and Hussey is sticking with his captain, as that’s what you do, even though it riled Katich, but he does agree the team’s gotta stick together, but now Clarke is on the board, why isn’t there a place for him!

*And, ooh, what else; argh yes, Butt and Asif were proven guilty in Southwark crown Court, where the whole cricketing punditry applauded apart from Bob Willis who wanted them publicly shot.

*On the field; the Windies and Bangles are slogging it out in Dhaka and Guptill’s ton in Bulawayo helped the tourists (NZ) to a serene 275 at stumps Day 1, but by the time you read this it will all be over, so there’s no point continuing – how about SA and Aus – have they started yet? The answer is no, so fool’ll be back when they have.

It’s early now and… - I’m done

The team that likes roll mops and partying and belts and rum and temptations and feathers and Steve Finn and proverbs and coordinates and pigeons and tiddly winks and Jessie’s! And spin and the Beatles and Buddy Holly and side-show Bob and Ant and Dec and capes and japes and basketball and indoor cricket and psyche and a good rib-dig and loose ends and first balls and a good roasting, and triple tons and whoa-ha-ha’s and cooking and cradles and Yorkshire puddings…and 2010/11 Ashes, and the Gods

Till next week…
