And Low, he did speaketh

Super 15’s:

Auckland Blues thumped the Rebels in Auckland Blue-land 40-23, whereby finger wagging was pointed very indirectly at The Cip for his huge contribution to missed tackles, although no-one admitted as such, certainly not boss Rod MacQueen and most definitely not vice-captain Gareth Delve who reminded everyone that they ‘had to stick together, whether it means winning or losing games.’/ Force struck rich in Perth with a 26-21 win over an increasingly hapless Bulls. That’s the Bulls’ third loss in a row – but heck, does that dishearten Victor Matlock? By-the-blubbery-of-rhinoceros-skin does it cha – the ‘vaali’s upbringing is more stubborn than that and the man-mountain surmises the Bulls only have to win every last game to be in with a chance then that’s not even guaranteed./ Tah’s lost 19-15 to the Reds plus also their star winger Drew Mitchell for six months minimum, with a busted ankle and fibula. That’s his World Cup over too. Hardly sour grapes but the Tah’s are suggesting Higginbotham, whom Drew ran into the back of chasing a kick, did move in his way – good luck with that then Tah’s. Quade scored 19 of Reds points but can he tackle? Can he Cip. Mike Philips and Dwayne Peel look to be on Tah’s shopping list as Luke Burgess heads off to Toulouse, watch this space…/ Chiefs held the Lions 30-34 at Coca Cola Park Jo’burg. That was the Lions sixth straight loss and having recorded only 1 win in 24 games; you’ve got to admire their Matfield skin. Scott Waldrom helped fool’s fantasy side with his two tries amongst the Chiefs 5 in total. Lions scored three/ Sharks dumped the ‘Canes in Durban 40-24 - 13 each that stood at the sheds. Then the Sharks ran away with it as the Hurricanes discipline wilted.

Heineken Cup

Semi’s coming up this weekend; Leinster v Toulouse on Saturday at the Aviva Stadium and Northampton against Perpignan at Satdium:MK on Sunday – fool’s gunning for two home wins.

Aviva Premiership;

Newcastle 13-24 to Leicester. James Grindall’s try 7 minutes from time filed the Falcons for relegation abyss by denying them the losing bonus point they so desperately needed/ Sale bowed to Exeter 24-30 with Charlie Hodgson playing his last home game before heading to Saracens/ Wasps were mauled 10-43 by Bath. Lewis Moody made his come back from injury. Tom Biggs bagged a hat trick, Matt Banahan got two and Matt Carrero one./ L. Irish 20-Northampton 26 – Ashton popped two over the whitewash and Delon Armitage punched someone on the jaw but got a away with it – can’t recall who that someone was, but fool’s sure he’ll know/ Leeds love to play on the edge and lost 3-38 to Quins to keep their fortunes in the Premiership on a last game hurrah and hope in the meantime Falcons lose both their final games, which are both against Bath!

Magners:    - why am I still on this page?

Glasgow were beaten by Scarlets 37-29. Chris Cussiter made his return after being out for 11 months. Scarlets lock Lou Reed, named after Lou Reed immediately welcomed him back by shoving the ball in his face at a lineout which triggered a mass brawl/ Ospreys may be out of the play-offs but they’re always in there or there about’s, however their loss 20-22 to Munster proved they’re not ‘in there’ enough/ Aironi helped Leinster beat them by being the poorer side and conveniently went down 8-20.

Top 14: Hands are still up; I don’t know.

fool says: Rebels will win this week.

Some shorts:

*Tom Shanklin retired this week with a bad knee and says he’ll have to get a job in the ‘real world’. Tom played 114 times for Cardiff Blues notching 28 tries which isn’t that great considering his 20 for Wales in 70 appearances. He was selected for 2005 Lions tour to New Zealand but damaged his knee, which has now forced his retirement. Tom was also selected for the Lions trip to South Africa in 2009 but also had to pull out a month before boarding the plane with a shoulder injury – perhaps a loss adjuster might suit Tom.

*Martyn Williams will play against Wales for Baa Baa’s on 4th June – an honour he considers to be a huge privilege nonetheless, ‘strange’ to play against his own country. The Wallabies have also confirmed their game against the Barbarians at Twickenham in November after the World Cup – incidentally these two teams have met 10 times with the Aussies winning 7.

*Richard Loe suggests the Wallabies are looming for world cup contention given their form in the Super 15’s, especially the Reds. He also points out their huge improvement in the scrum, which will set up ball for what he describes as, ‘probably the best set of backs in the world’ in Genia, Cooper, Ashley-Cooper, Ioane, Beale and O’Connor. Richard also sees their semi clash with either England or France a game suited to their style as, ‘England are not a side that can resist nor play the expansive game yet.’

Tapas & Bodega: bodega, oh baby when you dance like that… Sangria, mojito’s, plenty, plenty, plenty of wine and beer; Plus, The best Spanish cuisine in Saigon this side of Spain - Which is just to the right of Vietnam, and perhaps a little off centre of Phuket. Cracking live music too.

A willow the wisp of cricket now:

And now ladies and gentlemen a thribble on the light side:

Argh, to be 27

Still steering clear of the IPL due to its un-marketable weekly focus – never stopped fool before – but yes, to hell with the knockers and begrudgers – up Ireland… pardon!

The Windies new look T20 outfit pummelled the Pakistani’s in St Lucia by 7 runs – perhaps not exactly a pummelling but they’ll say that after losing the subsequent ODI by 8wickets, which was a pummelling

Despite starting with only one specialist spinner in Devendra Bishoo on a spinney track, Windies skipper Darren Sammy nailed the blame firmly on his batsmen for delivering a mere 221.

The ‘Stanis then made it two in a row with an eight wicket haul in game two, which makes the previous pummel out pummelled. Misbah-Ul-Haq notched a ton-up

And the Malingera has slung his last slinger as he retires from Test cricket aged 27 – fool was once the same age but that’s where the similarities end

It’s early now and… - I’m done

The team that likes roll mops and partying and belts and rum and temptations and feathers and Steve Finn and proverbs and coordinates and pigeons and tiddly winks and Jessie’s! And spin and the Beatles and Buddy Holly and side-show Bob and Ant and Dec and capes and japes and basketball and indoor cricket and psyche and a good rib-dig and loose ends and first balls and a good roasting, and triple tons and whoa-ha-ha’s and cooking and cradles and Yorkshire puddings…and 2010/11 Ashes, and the Gods

Till next week…
