 No title!

Super 15’s:

Rene Ranger made all the difference as ‘super sub’ when he came on for the Blues against Lions at Ellis Park and scored two tries in 7 minutes. Lions made a healthy come back to snatch defeat by 41-32 with tries from Jano Vermaak, Whitely, Doppies La Grange and Johnson Strauss, but Pat Lam’s tactic of holding back the stars in Mealemu, Boric and Braid till the second half paid dividends/ Crusaders had the Tah’s 33-18 in an emotional game at Nelson/ Force were forced out by ‘Canes 39-12 after two early injuries and a red card/ Brumbies continued their disappointing season with a beating from Reds – 25-31/ Bulls were shocked by storming season so far from Highlanders 35-28/ Chiefs beat the Rebels in a resounding win 38-10/ And Stormers saw off Cheetahs 31-15

The quarter’s in, ooh, April some time, are: Northampton play Ulster – Leinster v Leicester – Perpignan against Toulon and Biarritz versus Toulouse.

Aviva Premiership;

Newcastle steered themselves off the rocky bottom with a 33-18 triumph over Quins/ Bath lost their first game of the season 34-22 to neighbours Gloucester – Olly Barkley broke his leg; thanks to team mate Brock James falling on him/ Exeter continued their good form and beat Northampton 30-9 with a 21 point unanswered second half/ Leicester lost their first home game in 19 to Sarries; 14-15 thanks to the boot of Alex Goode. Manu Tuilaga scored an excellent try combining speed and power – look out for him in England’s third world cup game!/ Wasps beat Sale 37-26.

Magners:

Connaught took Treviso 31-25 – Jim Staples did not play/ Edinburgh were done by Cardiff 11-16 or that could be a 10 for the Blues – can’t read my writing/ Leinster definitely beat Scarlets 26-15/ And Ulster definitely up 23-10 over Aironi/ Ospreys beat Glasgow 37-6

And now ladies and gentlemen a thribble on the light side:

Talk is cheap

If some of the foregone conclusions weren’t worth watching they are now – if Wolstenholme had have said that it would remembered forever.

Meanwhile on the back of Pakistan’s narrow victory of 46 runs over Canada and Ireland’s shock tactics on the English, the World Cup suddenly became worth watching.

The Windies then reverted proceedings back to text by smashing the Bangles all gone for 58. However, they made up for such a poor performance in the crowd pleasing stakes by letting the Bangle supporters stone their bus – never a team to ignore a good stoning.

New Zealand did nothing of the sort and smashed the Zim’s by 19 wickets, whilst the Dutchies beat the Dutch by 231 runs.

AB de Villiers confirmed the notion that talk is cheap by declaring, ‘We’ve shown recently that we can play in big situations and under pressure. In recent times we have been the opposite of chokers.’

South Africa showed that hunger for pressurised situations by chasing England’s 171 with a fine 165 all gone.

New Zealand crushed Pakistan with 110 runs under their belts. Ross Taylor ton-ned-up, as the Caps floundered on 188-5 in the 45th over yet finished on 302-7! The Paki’s were all gone for 191.

I’m done

The team that likes roll mops and partying and belts and rum and temptations and feathers and Steve Finn and proverbs and coordinates and pigeons and tiddly winks and Jessie’s! And spin and the Beatles and Buddy Holly and side-show Bob and Ant and Dec and capes and japes and basketball and indoor cricket and psyche and a good rib-dig and loose ends and first balls and a good roasting, and triple tons and whoa-ha-ha’s and cooking and cradles and Yorkshire puddings…and 2010/11 Ashes, and the Gods

Till next week…
