It had it all, suspense, intrigue, passion, grit and flair. Q. No.1 Were the commie pig-dogs actually going to turn up? A. Yes... eventually they did...all 6 of ‘em. Nonetheless we bartered, exchanged, dusted the boots and got on with proceedings.
The Viet Nam Cup, round 1. 10 a side, on a firm green turf and a mild offering of a cool overcast breeze flapped in the air - conditions akin to any autumnal off peak international in the Arms Park.
Despite 40 legs full of beer the movement was quick, the sharpness of skill slick and the sudden realisation that the Gecko's had a game on their hands. The initial set pieces were almost alien to a floundering and somewhat surprised Gecko, but after five minutes they settled into a more comfortable zone, and soon quick ruck ball was in abundance.
Jason the Gutt and Beil was relentless in the hit up field and almost faultless in covering in defence, was he playing in the engine room or at fullback? The man was everywhere.
Once ball was forthcoming the Gecko's showed what they could do out wide and commanded brilliantly by Kris, with a K at No.10, until he retired at half time because he was tired, I think! Anyhow they stomped very firmly all over an almost bewildered Dragon's defence.
Master Chef in the midfield role was decisive in is dominance and with the speedsters of a Rusty nail and Mark Flagstaff outside him points were all in the black.

chef in his mid field role
Tommy's injection of pace, right at em in the second half was the tonic and possibly Pedro Primo's Play of the Day, but alas class play is not always what IT is about, so the crowd pleaser's choice of the PPPD goes to Chef's stumbling, fumbling ad-hoc tub of a thump up field off his right boot, which hung in the air like a shot duck until the ever effervescent BJ collected it off the chalk line and snapped a quick pass inside to long ginger legged old dog by the name of Marcel Marcel the Marcel who ran in a crowd applauding.

| Olivier in mighty form as always |
So, without confusing the mighty fuck out of you that was the Nam Cup part one - 31-zip - five tries to the Geckos.
In the women's division, the Phoenix' did manage to bring almost a team, 5 out of 6 isn't bad, and although it was played as a mixed touch game, the Boas still romped home with a 4 all victory!!!
With the speed of the likes of JRJ and Becci and brains of Kathryn and the coyness of Eliza, there seems to be no stopping the Boa's on a dominant march to success.
All in all it was a rugby fest of a special delight. Next outing for SRFC is in Bangkok late October where the Gecko's will saddle up to a cheap slut in soy 33 and in between strut their stuff on the 7's paddock to compete in, what one would presume, is the BKK 7's - go the Gecko's.

Thanks ref
