Hawthorn thrashed the wavering Western Bulldogs and that man Buddy kicked 8.? The Hawks now have a week off and also showed that they can seriously challenge the Geelong team.? What started as a brilliant season for the Dogs now looks like ending in a straight sets defeat.?

A hugely disappointing crowd of just over 37,000 watched a hugely disappointing Adelaide team go down to Collingwood by 31 points at AAMI Stadium.? Ta ta Ravens, told you they were pretenders.?

North Melbourne can?t win finals but at least they didn?t get thrashed.? Well actually, a 35 point beating by Sydney is a thrashing.?

Geelong handed out a shellacking to St. Kilda and the Cats enjoy a weeks break.? A couple of niggling injury concerns for Geelong so the extra week will help them.? St. Kilda have to front up again this week in a do or die game.? Hope they improve.?

Friday night sees Sydney travel to Melbourne to tackle the Western Bulldogs.? The Dogs looked slow and disinterested last week while Sydney were like a couple of years ago, coming good at the pointy end of the season.? For this reason I am leaning towards Sydney to knock over the Doggies and march on to a preliminary final berth.? Meanwhile it will be back to the drawing board down at Whitten Oval.? Will Barry Hall punch someone this week.?

Collingwood will start favourites in their elimination bout with St. Kilda.? Say what?? Digger expects the Saints bounce back this week based on the fact that they cannot be that bad again this week.?

Read in the press some reasons that Geelong will not win back to back flags as they have had a very poor year.?

  • They have not beaten a team placed above them all season.
  • They have not improved their ladder position from last season
  • Their average losing margin this season is 86 points

Diggers only concern with the Geelong team is that the more you win in a row the more difficult it becomes to keep winning.? What is it now, 17 in a row??
