Winners are grinners and losers can please themselves. Not very original but pretty much sums up lasts weeks round of matches.
The Western Bulldogs were never in any trouble holding out the injury riddled Essendon team by 50 points.
Fremantle lead at every change then to be beaten by Richmond. Sound familiar?
Port Adelaide found some form to beat bottom of the table Melbourne.
The Brisbane team had the match sewn up before a big Carlton challenge could not be stopped. Genuine improvers the Blues.
A slow and down hearted Sydney has lost their mojo while Collingwood seem back on track. But for how long?
Geelong never got out of third gear in beating a one man band called North Melbourne.
A slow starting St. Kilda eventually smashed the pretenders, Adelaide.
West Coast were smashed by Hawthorn but Buddy could not kick straight missing kicking the ton of goals in his home state.
A ho-hum round of matches that failed to ignite this reporter.
Friday night sees Collingwood traveling to Subiaco to meet Fremantle. Collingwood do not travel much but you would reckon they will beat Freo. Guess again, Fremantle will finish the season in a blaze of glory and their supporters will be talking up Premierships in 2009.
The North Melbourne boys will have a big win over Port Adelaide and go into September chock full of confidence. If they smash them and Adelaide smashes Western Bulldogs they could finish fourth. No way, but they will win.
Geelong will kick the sweep by smashing the West Coast at Kardinia Park. Supporters just hope that they play at their full potential heading into the finals. Apparently the Coasters know a few good dealers down Geelong way so the footy trip should be fun.
The Western Bulldogs should beat the Ravens and will be hoping for Carlton to topple the Hawks for a second place finish.
Hawthorn will beat Carlton ensuring a second place finish. Buddy should kick the ton in the first quarter. Fevola should kick the ton in the last. If both happen it will create history.
Sydney should beat a disappointing Brisbane but the result bears little ladder action. Let’s say a draw in this one to finish the season off for the Lions.
Richmond to beat Melbourne handsomely with Tiger supporters primed for 2009. One bad game has cost them a finals berth this year but has gotten the press off Terry Wallace’s back.
St. Kilda will have to beat Essendon very convincingly for Digger to give them any chance in the finals.
Short and sweet but you have your 8 winners right there.
Digger
