The End of Movenber

For anybody who has had an interest in the Ashes Series you would know that November has also been known as Movember.  Well, the AFL has also been celebrating and has a poll on their official website http://www.afl.com.au/ where you can vote for the greatest ever moustache seen of the Aussie footy field.

Nominated are Nathan Carroll (the only current player), Dipper, Leigh Matthews, Ron Barrassi, David Cloke, Malcolm Blight, Mick Malthouse and Alex Jesaulenko.  What a great group of players.

Well Digger wants to take this a bit further a get nominations from the whole wide world of sport.  Digger remembers Robert Decastella (marathon runner), David Boon, Ian Botham and Dennis Lillee (cricketers) and the Crazy Fool himself.  But who else is there?

What about the rugby players?  Soccer players and other sportsmen?  Vote now at diggerafl@yahoo.com.au

The AFL draft for youngsters was on last Saturday and as all predicted Bryce Gibbs went at number one to Carlton.  Torquay youngster Travis Boak went to Port Adelaide and Geelong picked the third Sellwood brother.  There is one more Sellwood to go and he reported to be the best of them..

Mal Michael has stunned Brisbane with his decision to come out od retirement and he will sign with Essendon in the upcoming pre-season draft.

No Irish jokes this week and Digger hopes that this whole stupid argument is dead and buried.

And speaking of the Ashes can the Poms chances improve as they have a player named Collingwood in their team.  The Collywobbles are well known in AFL circles and Digger reckons that the English cricket has also caught them.  One thing he does have going for him is that he is one of the few real Englishman in their team.  The big fast bowler Sajid has become upset and considers being called "not an Englishman" a racial slur.  And Digger thought that the AFL was becoming soft.

Vote now for the greatest mo ever.

Until next week,

Digger
