TEAM REVIEWS - 2006

Kangaroos - Finished 14th, Digger said pre-season 5th

The huge disappointment in season 2006 when they failed to fire and finished 14th on the ladder.  Coach Dean Laidley was under the pump for most of the season and will need his charges to show vast improvement in 2007 to hold onto his job.

Some highlights for the Roos in 2006 were the form up forward of Nathan "I'm Tired" Thompson who finished the year with 54 goals and also ran second in the club best and fairest.  Once again Brent Harvey was a live wire and was the teams leading disposal getter with 530 possesions.  Brady Rawlins won the club best and fairest.

Sav Rocca has played his last game for the club and has been to the States to try his hand as a punter in the NFL.  He will have stint in the European NFL with an aim of making the top flight.

The Kangaroos have played games in Canberra the last few years but have given up on the Australian national Capital and move to Carrarra on the Gold Coast for 4 home games in 2007.

Brisbane - Finished 13th, Digger said pre-season 11th

The Leigh Matthews and Jason Akermanis spat seemed to hold court in Brisbane for most of the year.  With the Big A on his way to the Western Bulldogs for 2007 maybe some harmony will return to the Lions.  The long term injury to Jonathan Brown blighted the season as well.  He is such a player that other stand up taller when he is on the paddock.

The Brisbane team have unearthed some potential super stars in players such as Justin Sherman (second in the club best and fairest) and Anthony Corrie.  Simon Black won the club best and fairest and stalwart Luke Power finished third.  Mal Michael who finished fourth in the B & F and has now retired and will sorely be missed.

We should see some improvement in this unit in 2007.
