SEASON 2008 PREVIEW

St. Kilda

First game play Sydney at the Telstra Dome on March 22nd

Premiership Odds:  9/1

Last weekend the Saints won the pre-season NAB Cup in a fighting win over Adelaide.  The pre season winners have been cursed in the regular season over the past few years but St. Kilda should be able to turn that around.  They struggled in the ruck division last year but have huge stocks this year.  Former Swan Adam Schneider will help in the mid field and St. Kilda has a formidable forward line.  A cheap one for your fantasy team is Jarryn Geary with Nick Dal Santo and skipper Nick Riewoldt perennial favourites.

Sydney

First game play St. Kilda at the Telstra Dome on March 22nd

Premiership odds:  15/1

Will the Sydney team continue the slide that started in 2007.  Digger is worried that the Swans have not recruited well enough over the last 3 seasons and maybe in trouble.  They have an old list and over 50% of their starting line up had surgery or time off for injuries over the pre season.  Throw Ted Richards in your fantasy team and also the Colac boy Amon Buchanan.  Paul Roos will need to be at his best to get Sydney in the finals.

West Coast

First game play Brisbane on Saturday night the 22nd of March.

Premiership odds:  12/1

Never write off the Weagles but with Judd gone to Carlton and Ben to rehab. the West Coast will need others to step up especially in the engine room.  If Daniel Kerr can stay out of trouble and finds some support in players like Matt Rosa and Sam Butler the West Coast will again trouble most teams.  He costs a fortune but big man Dean Cox is a must in your fantasy team and Digger hears that third year player Ben McKinley should also be thrown in.

Western Bulldogs

First game play Adelaide at the Telstra Dome on March 23rd

Premiership Odds:  34/1

Digger's quiet tip for the flag in season 2008.  Like Geelong in 2006 the Bulldogs were extremely disappointing in 2007 and should have a far better year.  With a real good mix of youth and experience the pups should be barking the kennel down.  Expect a top 4 finish and a cat and dog fight on that last Saturday in September.  For your fantasy team the Bulldog to have is Mitch Hahn and also toss in Robert Murphy.  Get down to your local betting shop and back the Dogs to make top 4 at a minimum.
