Digger is under the pump this week so just a brief edition today.
Digger tipped 7 out of 8 winners last week with only Richmond letting him down. So we are 15 from 16 for the season.
This weeks round of matches are,
Friday night sees the western Bulldogs meet St. Kilda and this one should be an absolute cracker of a clash. Both are 2 for 2 with one struggling win and one blitz each. Move Riewoldt to centre half back has been the cry all week but I reckon leave him up forward. Suggest a shootout will occur in this game and the Saints to win narrowly.
The North Melbourne outfit bounced back to record a victory last week but Hawthorn will test their mettle. The Hawks look genuine hopes this year and have the potential to rival their teams of the 70's and 80's. Too much fire power the Hawks have for the ‘Roos and they will steam roll their opposites by about 10 goals.
The local derby of West Coast V Fremantle will shape the season for one of these sides. Hapless Freo have yet to have a win and the Weagles were thumped by the Ravens last week. The 4th Sellwood looks set to make his debut for the Weagles and should provide a second interest in this game. I find it hard to see the Dockers (almost spelt it Dickers) upsetting their neighbors in this one. The West Coast to scrape home.
Brisbane host Sydney and while the Lions just pipped the Collingwood's last week while Sydney belted the Power the winner just does not pop up. Sydney ran last week rather than their normal hold ‘em up style but playing this way will play into Brisbane's hands. Digger hopes they do as Brown will then kick a bag. Adam Goodes returned to form last week and his contribution will have a big effect on the outcome. Brisbane in a tight finish.
Essendon and Carlton will provide good viewing this week with the Blues set to lose again. The Bombers had no idea against the Geelong team last week and will relish coming up against Carlton. Fevola has given up the booze for the rest of his career (he will be pissed come September). Essendon to prevail here with Carlton coach Brett Rattan still yet to open his account.
Geelong should beat Melbourne at Skilled Stadium where the Cats will unfurl the 2007 premiership flag. The Demons are the longest price to win in the history of AFL betting.
Richmond takes on Collingwood with both teams one from two and sitting 7th and 8th on the ladder or the log to my South Ifrican readers. The heart says Richmond but the mind says Collingwood. Without Andrew Raines who popped his knee out the Tiger defence lacks poise. Collingwood to get over the line in this one.
The final game of the round sees the South Australian derby take place and while you would think it will be close it will be a walkover to the Ravens. The Power should be stung into action after calls this week of a lack of intestinal fortitude with one scribe saying they had about as much guts as a banh mi. Meanwhile the blackbirds are chirping away and will continue on their merry way.
