An Irish Joke - Part 2
The poor old leprechauns are complaining. The Australians play too rough and they want to take their round ball and go home. That's right, the Gaelic Football Association are ready to put a stop to the International Rules Series.
They take no blame for the rash of yellow cards in the first quarter of the second and final game of the series, there were six, has upset the little green men.
Apparently there is no tackling, only harassing in the Irish game, and as a result they do not know how to protect themselves when they are tackled. One player who was tackled did not know how to land and roll and instead landed on his head.
Is it the Australians fault that the Irish are still amateurs and as they do not train enough so are physically smaller than the Aussies? Is it the Australians fault that the Irish to not train enough for these series and the subtle changes in their game. After all the Australians have to adapt to the round ball which is second nature to the Irish. It was not exactly a big bruising and thug like Australian team. The team was picked for pace and players picked were those who could adapt.
It is obvious that the Irish public support the series as a crowd of over 82,000 attended the game. The biggest ever crowd for a Irish representative international in Ireland.
Digger reckons that the series will go on and that the bleating is just a cry from the GFA for more money to finance next years trip to Australia. The AFL will give them more money and the game will go on.
To the Irish, get your game in order, get crowd control to protect players from both sides and stop your bitching. Grow up and get professional and you will see your players will be able to adapt to different rules.
And Fevola did not play a game ............... Paul the bar man looks the toughest of them all.
The only one of the Irish who did not complain was Sydney Swan and Irish captain, Tadgh Kenneally.
