SEASON 2008 PREVIEW

Adelaide

Round 1 play the Western Bulldogs at Telstra Dome on March 23rd.

Premiership Odds: 25/1

The Ravens have no ruckman of note now that Rhett Biglands has done his knee again and they traded his replacements at the end of last season. This will hinder their chances this season. Coach Craig will need to find a few tricks for the Ravens to be competing in the finals. Jason Porplyzia is expected to step up this season and should be a Raven in your Fantasy team.

Digger sees the Ravens finishing just outside the top 8 and in 9th position.

Brisbane

Round 1 play West Coast at Subiaco on March 22nd.

Premiership Odds: 12/1

Expected to struggle last year but turned in some very good performances. The Bears have a good crop of veterans who are complimented by some smart youngsters. Jonathan Brown has reportedly had his best pre-season ever and this strongman of the league looks set for a stellar season. Jared Brennan is the Lion to have in your Fantasy team as he has been ear marked for the mid season role.

Diggers says that the Brisbane team will see finals action this year and finish seventh.

Carlton

Round 1 play Richmond at the ‘G on March 20th, a Thursday night.

Premiership Odds: 30/1

Only the most die hard Carlton supporter would be taking 30/1 about the Blues winning the cup this year. Sure Chris Judd will make a difference and the youngsters are more seasoned but 30/1! Digger had dinner with a Blue insider recently and learned that 90% of the squad is still under 26 years old. Look out for Carlton in 2010. The player from Carlton to throw in your Fantasy team (apart from Judd) is Jarrad Waite who can play at both ends of the ground.

Digger predicts a rebuilding year (again) for Carlton and this team will again win the wooden spoon.

Collingwood

Round 1 play Fremantle at the ‘G on March 22nd.

Premiership Odds: 9/1

The Magpies looked pretty ordinary in their NAB cup match in Dubai and could slide down the ladder in 2008. Diggers reckons they over achieved in 2007 and with Buckley and Clement gone seem destined to a long season. Like Carlton they are ridiculously priced for the flag. Digger has spoken to Trigger and the best bet for the season is to back the ‘Pies to finish in the bottom 4. Scott Pendlebury is the Collingwood player to put in your Fantasy side.

Collingwood to finish 13th in 2008.
