Nathan Ablett has walked away from his promising AFL career citing a lack of desire to play at the top level.  Geelong is leaving the possibility of a return open but should resign themselves to the fact that he is gone.

Collingwood has lost a 500,000 AUD sponsorship deal after rookie Sharrod Whellingham blew over the legal alcohol limit recently.

Brian Harris of the Western Bulldogs has changed his name to Brian Lake.  Harris was his mums maiden name and Lake is his fathers surname.  Now that his partner has given birth to a boy Lake has decided that his fathers surname should be had for future generations.

From the above you can see that it has been a quiet week in footy with all the main stream press covering the great cricket stoush.  All Digger will say on this matter is that the Indian team needs to drastically improve their fielding and running between wickets.  That would give them an extra 100 runs to try and beat the Australians.

Until next week,

Digger
