Well it has been a fairly non news week in AFL this week.  The highlight of the week was that a few of the Weagles players got parking fines for parking their cars in reserved spaces while training at Leedervile Oval.  They were not happy campers.

Two new rules have been introduced for this years NAB pre-season competition.  They are being trialed only in the NAB and Digger hopes that it stays that way.

The length of a kick, for the receiving player to be awarded a mark, has changed from 15 metres to 20 metres.  In my honest opinion the umpires awarded marks for less than kicks of 15 metres last year so in this trial they will pay marks for kicks of less then 20 metres.

The second new rule to be tried is that a mark will NOT be awarded if a kick is kicked backwards in the back half of the ground.  A very over zealous reaction to the flooding tactic that by the way was losing its shine by coaches.  I suppose the rules committee has to be seen to be doing something.

Digger spent last Sunday on the club web sites looking for an angle or two for a slow news weeks such as this week.  You know that I have a fascination with names so this week I will present you with one of these "name" lists.  This list is of players who have a surname that is a Christian name (first name for the Muslims).  I have not included names such a Stevens as it has a "S" on the end.  This week, Adelaide, Brisbane, Carlton and Collingwood.
